Based in Strasbourg, the Fondation Kastler or FnAK does its work throughout the whole of France. It coordinates with the Centres de services EURAXESS network to make it possible for researchers from abroad to benefit from services especially designed to make it easier for them to move to France, so that they can get the most from their opportunity to work in France. The local Service Centres can call on the FnAK for legal and technical support. The FnAK has thus made itself a truly national point of reference for the mobility of scientists.
More than 40,000 foreign researchers have already benefitted from its services. The FnAK contributes actively to:
– relaxing the entry and temporary residence regulations for scientists in France;
– bringing professionalism to the reception of researchers in mobility;
– bringing its expertise to any person or institution hosting foreign scientists;
– contributing to making France more attractive for scientists.
The Fondation Kastler celebrated its 20th anniversary on 6th December last year at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The event, graced by the distinguished patronage of Geneviève FIORASO, Minister for Higher Education and Research, brought together to discuss the international mobility of scientists Catherine TRAUTMANN, Member of the European Parliament and Vice-President of the Communauté Urbaine de Strasbourg, Alain BERETZ, President of the University of Strasbourg, Sjur BERGAN, Head of the Education Department at the Council of Europe, Guntram BAUER, from the Human Frontier programme, Frédéric LE CORRE, Head of the Mission de l’Emploi Scientifique at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, as well as researchers in mobility directly affected by this issue.
