HISTORY OF THE HOUSE

The Maison internationale was built in its entirety thanks to a donation from the American philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Junior. It was designed by the american architect Jens Fredrick Larson in 1936. It contains many common services for residents and visitors. It also houses the Robert Garric residence and some artists’ studios located in the attic.

Anecdote

The construction of the Maison internationale was completed in record time, in less than two years, thanks to the use of a metal structure, which is now completely hidden. The number of workers averaged 500 per day.

Adjacent to the university restaurant, the Crous de Paris café is open 7 days a week. It offers breakfasts, hot drinks, fast food and organic products to eat in or take away. It is open to all. | Find out more.
The theatre café

Just a stone’s throw from the Theatre, this café offers vegetarian cuisine and products from organic or sustainable agriculture. It has the Ecotable label. It offers an organic brunch every Saturday. | Find out more
Swimming pool

The 25m x 9m pool has 4 lanes. It is open to residents, employees and members of the Paris University Club (PUC). | Find out more

Salon Honnorat

With its 398 m² and 8m20 high ceilings, decorated with 64 coats of arms of universities and cities of the world, the Salon Honnorat is one of the most emblematic places in the house. 
Espace Adenauer

The 400 m² amphitheatre with its two adjoining galleries of 200 m² each offers a variety of organisational possibilities. 
Many salons

A dozen other spaces are available for your professional events, from 20 to 500 people with different settings to meet all your needs. Technical services, catering and entertainment are also available.
Acc&ss

The International Mobility Welcome department of the Cité internationale provides assistance and support to students and researchers from the Ile-de-France region (administrative formalities, finding accommodation, creating a bank account, integration, learning French, cultural outings, etc.).

The Heritage Centre

Both an exhibition and documentation centre, the Heritage Centre invites everyone to discover the history and current affairs of the Cité internationale. Guided tours are organised all year round for groups and individuals on reservation.| Find out more

Cneai=

Le Cneai= (National Centre for Contemporary Arts) is a contemporary art centre housed at the Cité internationale. It is a place of research, production and dissemination of art and is open to all. | Find out more

A DEDICATED AND PROFESSIONAL TEAM

The central reception of the Cité internationale is located in the hall of the house. Here you will find all the information about the campus. Each house is run by a professional and dedicated team. Whether they are receptionists, directors, maintenance or security staff, they are all committed to ensuring that your stay in the house runs smoothly.

A goodies shop

In the lobby of the Maison internationale is the shop selling Cité internationale goodies. A window displays the different products marked with our visual identity. You can buy sweaters, bags, t-shirts, tote bags, mugs… Purchases can be made on site at the reception desk or soon online on our virtual shop.
