Who can apply?

Students and top-level athletes

Throughout your stay, you must be registered for a masters or doctorate degree (upwards of Bac+4 or equivalent) in a French public or private higher education institution, preferably in Île-de-France. Students in artistic departments, whose degrees are generally not authorised by the state, can apply as soon as the prepared degree reaches three years in higher education and is issued by a renowned establishment. Top-level athletes must also enrol in a higher education establishment.

Reasearchers

Throughout your stay, you must hold a doctorate degree and have a post-doctoral project or be a teacher-researcher. Your research project must be accepted by a higher education or research establishment or a university. You can also be invited by a higher education or research establishment in Île-de-France.

Artists

Are you no longer a student but have a specific artistic project in Île-de-France? Artists in all disciplines or professional cultural trades (conservator, archivist, librarian, technician) who have finished their studies and are coming to Île-de-France for an exhibition, performance or a specific artistic project can apply for accommodation at the Cité internationale.

Passing guests

In addition, people who do not fulfil the criteria of student, researchers or artist, but can justify an academic or cultural link to a building can be lodged from time to time. The stay cannot exceed 1 month.

HOW TO APPLY?

Applying for accommodation is done exclusively online through a dedicated platform. Before beginning your online registration, you must have a copy of an official ID (passport/identity card) and an ID photo. You can then choose the form that corresponds to your profile (student and top-level athlete, researcher or artist).

FAQ

Are there specific procedures?

The Cité internationale’s houses admit students from the schools concerned regardless of their nationality. The houses representing a country admit students, researchers and artists from their respective countries. For the other houses, the candidates must refer to the houses’ pages to discover additional admission requirements.

Is there an application deadline?

There is no deadline for submitting an application. We accept new residents throughout the entire academic year. It is also important to note that requests for the month of September must be completed in April of that year.

What are the application stages?

Step 1: after completing the online form, choose a username and a password. This will allow you to log back in to view and track your accommodation request. Do not forget to click “send” to finalise your registration.

Step 2: once your request has been sent you will receive an automatic receipt confirming your registration. If you do not receive any receipt of registration, you will need to reregister.

Step 3: your request will be considered by the admissions department. This is done several times per year.

You will be informed of the result of your request by email, which will be sent to the email address indicated on your request. If you have not received an accommodation offer 15 days before your desired arrival date, your application was not accepted.
