MEET AROUND MUSIC

Born at the Cité internationale, the Choir has been managed since 2021 by the Association Voix Internationales. It brings together campus residents and non-residents, students and working people, beginners and more experienced musicians for several decades, in a spirit of openness, benevolence towards others and love of music. Rich in this cultural mix and in the privileged setting of the Cité internationale, it welcomes every year, after auditioning, about a hundred amateur singers who wish to practice or discover choral singing.

The Choir has brought me into contact with alumni, residents and local people I would never have met. I gained confidence in my voice and my musical skills. Achieving musical quality and friendship between male and female singers is an ongoing process that has taken years.

VIBRATE TOGETHER IN HARMONY

The Choir of the Cité internationale explores a diverse and eclectic range of repertoire, from works from the classical canon to lesser-known sacred and secular pieces, opera arias, masses and requiems, popular songs from around the world, jazz arrangements, songs for younger audiences, and contemporary works.

EMBLEMATIC ACHIEVEMENTS

The Choir has also had the opportunity to perform major works, including Fauré’s Requiem with the Orchestre Colonne as part of Nuit Blanche, Dvořák’s Mass in D, Alexandros Markeas’ Cantata 2024, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast.

Resonate outside the walls

The Choir regularly takes part in large-scale projects in collaboration with prestigious institutions and renowned orchestras. Over the past ten years, it has notably collaborated with the Philharmonie de Paris, the Orchestre Colonne and its conductor and Academician Laurent Petitgirard, Sequenza 9.3, the Orchestre Ut Cinquième, as well as in partnership with the European Commission.
