The language space is a service of the central library created to facilitate dialogue and integration in an international and multicultural context. It offers a variety of activities for learning or practicing one or more languages. Conversation groups and workshops in French as a foreign language complete the offer.
I’d like to encourage anyone who wants to improve their level of French to go to the language centre. I’ve learnt a lot there, not only thanks to the self-study stations but also and above all in the conversation groups, which are the best place to get to know other residents and to lose your fear of speaking in French.
The language centre offers French workshops run in a fun way by two teachers of French as a foreign language. French for beginners, pronunciation, French through games… The themes are varied. To sign up for a workshop, you must register with the language centre beforehand.
To improve your oral expression and meet other students, native volunteers will chat with you and get you to discuss topical subjects in French, English and Spanish. To sign up for a conversation group, you need to register with the language centre beforehand.
Language learning software (Altissia – for a fee, Assimil, etc.), specialist online magazines (Vocable, etc.) and other resources are available on our self-study workstations to help you make the most of your language learning. Visit the languages area to find out more!
Language methods, test preparation manuals, easy novels, bilingual novels, comic strips and board games in French are all available in the language centre to help you learn different languages and prepare for placement tests.
A new feature! You can now borrow books from the language centre to read at home. Each loan is limited to 2 documents for 3 weeks (extension possible).
