Become a patron of the Cité internationale

By becoming a patron of the Cité internationale, you become part of a century of philanthropy to defend an ideal of peace and give meaning to the world by offering young people a unique experience of study and sharing. The Cité internationale was born of philanthropy and continues to live off it. Our projects cannot be created and maintained without your donations. The history of this unique place in the world is also yours: whether you are a private individual, a company, a foundation or a sponsor, we have projects that are like you.

You are an individual

Every donation is important. The Cité internationale is always delighted to welcome new donors who wish to commit themselves to us in order to meet the challenges we have set ourselves: to encourage access to knowledge and mobility for the world’s youth, to promote solidarity and humanist values and to act for a sustainable world. You can make a general donation to the Cité internationale or address your donation to a specific project that is important to you.

As the Cité internationale is a private foundation recognised as being of public utility, its status allows you to de-tax your donation on your income tax or property tax return:

  • up to 66% of your donation from income tax (within the limit of 20% of taxable income). To do this, when you file your annual tax return, declare the amount of your donation in box 7UF (“Tax deductions and credits” in the “Charges” section). This is step 3 when declaring your income online.
  • up to 75% of the tax on real estate wealth (up to a limit of €50,000). You must declare your donation when you file your tax return in May/June in the same way as for income tax.

In both cases, you must keep your tax receipt, sent by the sponsorship team following your donation, which will serve as proof in the event of an audit by the tax authorities.

We take care to limit as much as possible the management costs necessary to the collection of funds (management, administration around the sponsorship and our collection campaigns), they represent 10% of the amount of your donation. Moreover, if the supported project encounters difficulties or cannot succeed, your donation will be transferred to another project of assistance to the Cité internationale, with a similar orientation.

Examples of donations
Amount of your donation Real amount once deducted from income tax
10 € 3,40 €
120 € 40,80 €

Possible counterparts

Some projects may allow you to benefit from counterparts. If you wish to leave your mark on the Cité internationale, or pay tribute to a loved one, you can make a donation in exchange for the display of a plaque with your first and last name (depending on the nature of the project and the amount of your donation).

If you would like more information about this possibility, or if you have a specific request for consideration, please contact us directly.

Making a bequest or donation to the Cité internationale

You also have the possibility of bequeathing all or part of your assets, in order to express your attachment to the Cité internationale, in favour of its future generations of residents.

By making a bequest to the Cité internationale, provided for in a will, you will continue to dispose of your assets throughout your life while allowing your estate to be revived. It is also possible to make a donation to pass on the rights or ownership of one or more assets.

Similarly, the capital of a life insurance policy can be bequeathed, in whole or in part, to the Cité internationale.

Renovating and maintaining our heritage

By supporting this priority, you are helping us to renovate and maintain our heritage. The Cité Internationale has an exceptional architectural, artistic and landscape heritage. From Le Corbusier to Laprade and Claude Parent, from Charlotte Perriand to Jean Prouvé, from Foujita to Le Phô, the Cité internationale has always been a great source of inspiration for architects and artists from all over the world.

You are a company or a foundation

Sponsorship represents a significant part of the Cité internationale’s budget. Each year, many corporate sponsors support us in carrying out projects that directly benefit students and the life of the Cité internationale. You can make a financial donation, a donation in kind or a sponsorship/partnership.

You can also make a donation to an already identified project or co-create a project with our teams.

The Cité internationale has set itself three priority challenges: to encourage access to knowledge and mobility for the world’s youth, to promote solidarity and humanist values and to act for a sustainable world. The projects it carries out are very diverse and concern the environment, heritage, digital technology or solidarity. They always have the same objective: to ensure optimal and peaceful study conditions for students and researchers from all over the world.

We can work together to build a project that fits in with your Corporate Foundation’s priorities and/or your company’s values. Some projects also allow your employees to be fully involved in your sponsorship.

As the Cité internationale is a private foundation recognised as being of public utility, its status allows you to deduct up to 60% of the amount of your donation from your corporation tax (within the limit of 0.5% of your turnover or €10,000 for SMEs).

Your support is a great way to nourish your external and internal communication, through projects that are meaningful and that contribute to the sense of pride of your employees.
