The Central Library is full of treasures, but not all of them are on paper. One section of wall interests us here, at one end of the room, where a monumental clock sits proudly and, above all, an allegorical painting set in a semicircular arch and flanked by pilasters, reinforcing the impression of perspective. This painting by Georges Léo Nicolas Degorce celebrates the medieval origins of the University of Paris.
