The Maison des étudiants canadiens was founded on the initiative of Philippe Roy, the high commissioner of the Canadian government from the beginning of the 1920s. The building was designed by two architects, the Frenchman Emile Thomas and the Canadian Georges Vanier.
During the academic year 1957-1958, about twenty young women were admitted to the house for the first time. They were assigned part of the first floor following the construction of a partition to separate their section from the men’s.
Thanks to its 43 houses, the Cité internationale offers a rich cultural and artistic program to all audiences : concerts, screenings, conferences, exhibitions, shows…
Discover them in our cultural agenda CitéScope.
Every house runs thanks to a professional and dedicated team. Whether they are in charge of hospitality, planning, cleaning, maintenance or security, they are all committed to making sure that your stay in the building goes smoothly.
The campus is yours so take part in organising its social and cultural life! Residents are elected within your house every year. They take care of the organisation and representation of residents with the house’s administration. We also encourage resident engagement in collective projects and in the organisation of cultural and artistic events.
