Emile Deutsch de la Meurthe, from a large family of patrons, financed the construction of the seven pavilions arranged around a central garden. Inaugurated in 1925, the Fondation Deutsch de la Meurthe was the first house in the Cité internationale. Its architectural style is reminiscent of English colleges.
