Moha TAOURIRTE

Interview with the Director of the Maison du Maroc

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER AND YOUR ARRIVAL AT CITÉ INTERNATIONALE

With a doctorate in chemistry, I’ve had the opportunity to take on a number of responsibilities at Cadi Ayyad University in Morocco, including acting president, dean of the faculty of science and technology, director of the École nationale des sciences appliquées and vice-president of the university. Through these experiences, I hope to make an active contribution to the dynamic of the Cité internationale in the service of the university life and cultural richness that make it unique.

WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES CITE INTERNATIONALE A UNIQUE CAMPUS IN THE WORLD?

The Cité internationale, which brings together students, researchers and artists from all over the world, stands out for its architectural pavilions and its setting, which is conducive to cultural mixing and dialogue. It reflects a commitment to tolerance, exchange and mutual respect.

HOW DOES LIVING IN YOUR HOME GIVE RESIDENTS A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ON THE WORLD AND PROVIDE A SPRINGBOARD FOR THEIR FUTURE?

It’s a unique life experience, at the heart of an environment nourished by a wealth of intellectual exchanges and cultural diversity. This formative experience broadens their vision of the world while consolidating their skills. By working alongside students, researchers and artists from a wide range of backgrounds on a daily basis, residents develop intercultural awareness and acquire valuable skills in a context of constant interaction.

IF YOU HAD TO SUM UP THE CITE INTERNATIONALE IN ONE WORD, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

“Rencontre” – A place where cultures, diverse experiences, visions, exchanges and shared enrichment come together.
