Born on 7 June 1983 in Paris, Guillaume Tronchet holds a degree in history from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Appointed Inspector General of Education, Sport and Research in 2019 and Conseiller référendaire en service extraordinaire at the Cour des Comptes from 2021 to 2023, he has held various strategic advisory, project management and management positions with presidents of higher education institutions, as project manager in the office of the president of PSL University (2012-2015), deputy director of PSL’s multidisciplinary graduate studies programme (2013-2015) and advisor to the director of the Ecole normale supérieure in Paris (2015-2019).
He also has fifteen years of teaching experience in universities and Grandes Ecoles (University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Sciences Po Paris, EHESS, University of Paris-Dauphine, PSL University). He has been a member of several recruitment and civil service examination juries, and has also been a member of several pedagogical and scientific bodies.
Expert in history and sociology of international university politicies and former Alliance Program visiting fellow at Columbia University (New York), Guillaume Tronchet was also a research associate at the Institute of Modern and Contemporary History (ENS-PSL, Université Paris 1, CNRS). Since 2017, he has been in charge of the “GlobalYouth” research programme on the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris at the École normale supérieure, and in this capacity he was a laureate of the Agence nationale de la recherche.
Guillaume Tronchet is the author of several books and scientific publications on cultural and university diplomacy, international university relations and student mobility. He is in particular the author of a biography of André Honnorat, founder of the Cité internationale universitaire, and of publications specifically about this institution.
