THE LILA RESIDENCE

HISTORY

The first residence built “outside the walls” of the Cité internationale

Lila Residence opened in the autumn of 2005, the result of a partnership between the SEMIDEP, the Préfecture de Paris, the Ile-de-France regional government, the City of Paris and the Ile-de-France Regional centre for university development (CROUS). It is the first building to be managed by the Cité internationale located outside of the historic Boulevard Jourdan campus. The residence is located in Paris’ 19th district, near Porte des Lilas.

Encouraging exchange and friendship

Construction on the Lila Residence began in 2004, and it was managed by Atelier Jade et Sami Tabet. The architectural concept centres on providing meeting spaces and facilitating friendship. The residence is a series of different buildings constructed around an interior garden. Common areas are to be found on the ground floor; they all give onto stone-paved patios. Access to the site has been adapted to the needs of disabled visitors.

Did you know?
The furnishings in the Lila Residence were created by the designer B. Moise, with a focus on simple lines and a modular design so that students can personalise their living space.
