“In cooperation with the city of Paris, we are striving to increase our capacity to receive foreign students and researchers while also improving the quality of the host facilities that we offer them. The new South-East Asia House that we are inaugurating today meets both of these goals. 21 additional rooms have been added and the layout and furnishing of the rooms have been reorganised and improved in order to meet the highest standards and provide researchers with pleasant living conditions. ParisTech students will benefit from the arrangement as well, and I am sure that many of the foreign students among them will thus have the opportunity to experience the vibrant student life we are known for. This will set the stage for meetings between international students and the scientific students from ParisTech, who together represent our future and the future of technology.” Marc Lipinski, vice-president of the local council of the Ile-de-France region in charge of higher education and research, in his speech at the grand reopening of the house in 2009.
“The schools in the ParisTech consortium are admitting more and more foreign students in order to increase their international renown and reach out to students world wide. We must provide housing for these students, housing that is worthy of the best universities throughout the world. We have accomplished this through the agreement signed with the Cité internationale. South-East Asia House, with its 131 accommodations for ParisTech students, will provide our students with the ideal setting for learning where they can meet with other students and enrich their knowledge of science and the world. Because it is open to disciplines outside of science and engineering, the Cité internationale constitutes a melting pot of cultures and talents, which is one of the key advantages of a campus within the city of Paris.” Cyrille Van Effenterre, president of ParisTech, 2009.
