Every year the Cité Internationale accommodates 12,000 students, researchers and artists in its 40 houses.
“I am one of a long line of Haitian doctors who have come to France to study. When I first wanted to specialise in neonatology, I went directly to the AP-HP. They were very helpful throughout the process and directed me towards the Cité internationale for housing. I had already heard about this place in relation to the writer Léopold-Sédar Senghor and I knew he himself had been a resident here, but that was all I knew about it! I was given a room in the Rosa Abreu De Grancher Foundation, and it’s really a beautiful place, pleasant to live in, even if I’m a bit too busy to spend much time enjoying it. After this year studying in France, I plan to go back to Haiti to work and be with my family. When I return home I will tell other students about my experience and I hope to encourage more of them to study abroad.”
